India: A Day with Family in Bhind
Jaipur to Agra
The final stretch!
3 hours by car
2 nights
Agra was our final destination with our beloved Ram! We had so much fun together that we drove an extra five hours out of the way to visit Ram’s home in Bhind (two hours outside of Agra) to have lunch. We met his wife, his precious baby girl, and around 100 of Ram’s close family and friends. We also took pictures with every... single... one of them. The best part? They don’t smile in any of the pictures! And, they were all on our camera. We’ll just have to figure out a way to get all the pictures to them. Ram’s sister, cousin, friend (really it could have been any of the above) drew the most beautiful henna for me, and we enjoyed a delicious home made lunch in the home that Ram proudly owns. I also got a lesson on how to properly wear a saree (again).
It was such a fun experience visiting his home and made us feel that much closer to him. We were able to fill in the gaps to see how Ram's life felt from dusk to dawn. We always felt a special connection with this lovable man, but now we felt even closer. It was such a special day.
If anyone wants any information on a driver in India or would like to book direct to avoid paying the additional fees, let us know, and we can help put you in touch (and help with the planning as Ram’s english is somewhat limited).
When we arrived back in Agra, we said farewell to our dear friend. Ram and I both shed some tears, and we said goodbye. He gave Boss (Ram's nickname for Brian, which I'm fairly certain was resurrected because he couldn't remember his real name. India will most likely be the only place where my name is more popular than anyone else's 😉) his last hug and told him to drink less Kingfisher. We will hold those two weeks we spent with together dear to our hearts and will relive the memories we made for lifetimes to come. Thank you Ram for an unforgettable introduction to the magic of India!
Oh yeah! And we visited the Taj Mahal. Duh.
